Capt. TJ Cheek was born and raised fishing in Coastal Georgia. From an early age his father, Capt. Tim Cheek taught him how to make the most of fishing St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Cumberland Island as well as the estuaries they guard and the offshore reefs beyond the horizon.
From catching shrimp in a cast net to trolling for Wahoo, TJ learned eagerly. Once Capt. TJ was in his early twenties, he and Capt. Tim teamed up to fish tournaments in the SKA, IFA, CFA, FLW, as well as many local tournaments. He also fished Largemouth Bass tournaments in Louisiana.
Now as a husband and a father, Captain TJ provides for his family by doing what he loves, FISHING! His son, (Capt.) Jackson Cheek, arrived in April of 2011 and is already training hard to take over the family business! Fishing in Coastal Georgia for a living is TJ’s career, and he takes it seriously.
Capt. Tim Cheek was also born and raised on the Little Satilla River in Coastal Georgia. In his late teens, he joined the US Navy where he had a successful career as a Hull Technician. After he retired at 39, he dove into fishing. Just like when he was a kid shrimping and crabbing the rivers, he was once again earning his living on the river.
Capt. Tim has a long list of tournament achievements including several local tournament wins, and most notably a win in the FLW Kingfish Tour. Capt. Tim is a patient teacher when it comes to kids. He is never happier than when he is passing on his love and knowledge of fishing to a new generation.
